We believe she is probably a lab mix. She was pretty scared when she came in but she is coming around slowly and letting some of the staff handle her. She will get there with patience and love. She loves to play in the water. The prior owner reported she is housebroken. She gets along with other dogs (lived with 5 other dogs) and lived in a home with children. She will be a great dog as soon as she gets through her fear of strangers - it appears she has had no socialization whatsoever. Her adoption fee will be $275.00 - she will be spayed, will have gotten her shots, and will be micro-chipped. She has an awesome full toothed smile that until you get to know her you think she is being aggressive - that is not the case at all. We haven't seen a mean overature out of her at all. She is spayed, now current on her shots, has been wormed and is micro-chipped. She gets along great with everyone around here - including kids. We don't believe she has been socialized very well with other animals. In the two weeks she has been here at the shelter she has not had any accidents in her kennel. She is crate trained also. This guy is Leo and was adopted from us 4 years ago and at that time he was 2 years old - so that makes him 6 years old now. He is a Mastiff mix. He has lived with children over the age of 12 and an older Shih Tzu. Unfortunately while at work one day the older Shih Tzu was found dead when his owner's came home and Leo got blamed for killing it. The owner reports there was no sign that he had mangled the smaller dog but there were marks on the back of the neck. There was no blood. If we had to "guess" he may have been trying to revive the senior dog but we can't guarantee that so we pretty much forced to say he should be an only dog and probably not around cats either. He is housebroken and is just a sweet and mellow guy. He is very sad being here at the shelter and does not understand what he did wrong to end up back here after being so happy for four years. If you can turn those sad eyes into joyful ones, consider coming and meeting this baby. He will be updated on his shots, he is neutered, will be current on preventatives and he is micro-chipped. You will find our adoption application on our website at www.patriotsforpets.com and we recommend you fill that out prior to coming to visit just in case you fall in love.

This very handsome boy is Tyler. He is about 18 months old. We were told he is a Boxer/Rottweiler mix. We aren't sure that is accurate but we can tell you he is a hansome baby. He loves car rides. He seems to prefer men to women in that he is 100% dedicated to a guy but kind of ignores women. He is fairlly well behaved. He is a little bossy with other dogs. He would have to live with dogs with strong personalities - he takes adantage of a dog being intimidated by him. We are not sure we would trust him with cats. He isn't what we would term hyper but loves his walks and play time. He seems to love adult humans but has no tolerance of young kids. He is housebroken but will mark his territory if you don't pay any attention. He does have a stubborn streak so will require an owner to be the alpha in the home. His adoption fee is $225.00. That includes his neuter, heartworm check (which is negative), current shots, worming, current on preventatives and micro-chipped. My name is Joe - I am a Border Collie and am 8 years old. I can tell you it sure sucks to have your owner die and leave you with no one to care for you. Then I end up in rescue and they find out I am heartworm positive so had to receive treatment for that but thank goodness that is now done. I lived most of my life outside but I am liking being inside with a comfy bed, food on a regular basis and someplace warm to sleep at night. I am here at Patriot's with my sister Blanca and both of us are looking for a forever home to love and care for us in our senior years. We can be separated if needed - we know it is tough to find a home for both of us at the same time. I am now neutered, current on all of my shots, have finished my heartworm treatment, am current now on all of my preventatives and I have a micro-chip that has been inserted (ouch). If someone would love us that would be awesome. Being here at the shelter is fine but it isn't meant to be a long term thing. NOTE FROM SHELTER: Joe is doing extremely well on his housebreaking as long as he gets taken out regularly. Very quiet, gets along with other dogs and is just pretty chill. His adoption fee will be $100.00. If interested in him or Blanca please go to our website at www.patriotsforpets.com and fill out an adoption application.

My name is Mr. Wobbles and life hasn't been good to me lately. My owner didn't want me and I ended up in a location that the odds of leaving alive were not good especially since I am 8 years old and had some medical issues. I got here to Patriots and was adopted in April and my new mom got sick and can't take care of me any longer so I am once again here at the shelter looking for a home. To start with I had a skin tag in my rectum area - which has been removed and I am all healed up from that. Then I had bilateral cornea ulcerations - which are now taken care of.. Then I had some bad teeth and had to have a few of them pulled. Geez - the vet and I are on a first name basis. I am a little on the chunky side (about 15 lbs.) so thus they named me Mr. Waddles. I have an umbilical hernia that I have probably had since I was young but the vet says it does not need repair. I do have cataracts which the shelter can not afford to have taken care of. Now to my good side - I like people - I am very quiet - I ride great - I am housebroken and just looking for an older person or couple to love me for the rest of my life. I don't have enough energy to keep up with little kids. I am even crate trained if you believe in those silly things. I am neutered, heartworm negative, current on all of my shots, current on my flea/tick preventative and current on my heartworm preventative - so what more could I ask for - I know - a home of my very own. My adoption fee is only $100.00. If you think your home and I would be a good fit, please go to the website at www.patriotsforpets.com and complete an adoption application then come on out and meet me.

OK folks - I need your help - I want out of the shelter - NOW please. I need room to run and stretch my legs. Let me tell you about me - My name is Buster and I am one big boy. I may be 8 years old pretty dang soon - my birthday is June 1st - but I sure don't want to spend it in a cage. The people around here say I am 8 going on 3 - whatever that means. People have considered me for adoption but they say I have too much energy - ok - so I don't act my age. I can still jump and run with the best of them. I have to admit I have gotten pretty dang used to being an inside dog - I have learned to go outside to go potty - I have discovered I like a soft place to lay my big body down on. I also like toys to play with. I do use my voice to get what I want and get told a lot to "shhhh" - whatever - play with me and I won't bark. I am a good sized boy at over 100 lbs - but I am not fat so please don't say that about me - you will hurt my feelings. There is just a lot of me to love on. Please help me find a home before the 1st so I don't have to spend my birthday in the shelter - I heard they don't serve birthday cakes or birthday presents around here.

Hero was brought in as a stray and was never claimed. He is a Border Collie mix we believe and he is deaf. He has an awesome personality with a quirk. For some reason he attacks his tail on a fairly regular basis. We believe he was probably severely abused in his prior situation. He ducks his head when you go to pet him and is skittish with new people. He is terrified of being on a leash. He LOVES toys - it is like a kid in a candy store once he discovered toys. Amazingly he is housebroken and crate trained. Because of his going after his tail violently we will not adopt him into a home with smaller children - there is too much risk for that. We also would recommend he be the only dog in the home. A fenced in yard is going to be necessary because of his fear of leashes. We know this is asking a lot but it is the only way we can assure his safety and the safety of anyone adopting him. We have been working with him on hand signals and he is doing very well. He is a smart dog and will learn with patience and love. His adoption fee will be $150.00 to help cover some of his medical costs. He is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm tested and micro-chipped. If you think you could be the right home for Hero please go to our website at www.patriotsforpets.com and complete an adoption application.

  • Up-to-date with routine shots
UPDATE: Ms. Reeba has been with us for a while now. She came in unbeknownst to us expecting puppies. She had 5 puppies after a very tough delivery and only one puppy survived. She raised her baby and when the baby was sent to foster we started working on getting Reeba ready for a forever home. She is a 4 year old Shiloh Shepherd. After she weaned her baby we had her spayed. She was heartworm positive so we went ahead and scheduled her treatment for that. She has finished her treatments and will finish her anti-inflammatory pills on Friday morning (5/24/19) and will be able to go home as of that date. We want to tell you about Reeba's personality. She is a very high energy dog who is pretty stubborn. She LOVES humans but not so much the other dogs. She has a very high prey drive so will not be adopted into a home with cats or small dogs. If someone has bigger dogs in the home we will just have to do a meet and greet and try it but we are pretty doubtful if the other dog is a female - we are leaning toward believing that she will need to be the only dog in the home. She HATES a crate and can destroy it in under 30 seconds - and we do mean destroy it completely. She is completely housebroken and much prefers a soft spot to sleep in when it is bed time. She is not good with "doggie beds" - they are a toy to her and are shredded fairly quickly. She is very curious about everything in her surroundings. She is doing better walking on a leash each time she goes out for a walk. Reeba's adoption fee is $200.00 plus the 6 month supply of Heartguard (which is $55.00). She will have to stay on her heartguard monthly without fail since she just had treatment for heartworms. This is a simple chewable that is given to her once a month. At the conclusion of that six months she will need to have another heartworm check done to assure heartworms are all gone. If directions are followed we have never found this to be an issue. Reeba would do best if she has a fenced in area to play in but for the right person who can get her the exercise she requires it is a discussion we can have. Shiloh Shepherds are amazing and smart dogs - Reeba just needs lots of love and attention to thrive. She would probably be a little too rough on small children. She MUST have a home that can exercise her daily. If interested in Reeba, please submit an adoption application from our website at www.patriotsforpets.com and if approved come out and meet her and plan on spending some time with her and taking her for a walk so you can get the full picture of what she is like.

She is a happy 3 1/2 year old girl who is full of mischief and loves to play. She has never met a toy she doesn't like. She gets along amazing with other dogs - she just hasn't learned that sitting and letting someone pet her is a good thing. She runs up, let's you pet her and then runs off to play. Her main focus in life is her toys. There is absolutely nothing aggressive about this beautiful girl. She is housebroken, loves playing with kids if they will play with her with some toys and always has a smile on her face and a wag in her backside. Our original information on her says she is a German Shepherd mix but to be honest she acts more like a Border Collie. She isn't near large enough to be a German Shepherd. She is not fond of walking on a leash but we are working on that. To be honest, she has come as far as she ever will living in a shelter. After 1 1/2 years we have done all we can do and we now need to find an owner who will finish off the work we have started and get her the rest of the way over the finish line. Please help us find Saffron the right home.

Chubba is a fairly young guy. His DOB is 2/13/17. He has been with us since June of 2017. He is a lab/dalmation mix. He lived a miserable six months here on this earth before coming to us and our goal to make the rest of his life a good one. He was "dumped" way before he was old enough to care for himself. He ended up in an area that was filled with Porcupine and had the needles all over his body - especially his face. He had to be live trapped to get him. He was absolutely terrified and is still leary of humans but is coming around vey slowly. It took almost two months for his sores to heal and for him to "tolerate" being touched - all physical wounds are healed and he is now coming to the gates looking for attention, he will go in and out voluntarily without being forced. He has a roommate and they get along great. Unfortunately he is still shy and after two years in the shelter that hasn't helped him very much. He can go no further than he currently is in the shelter and a home has to be found for him in order for him to grow any more confident and trusting of humans. There is absolutely no aggression in him - none - zero - nada!! He is housebroken. He requires a loving and PATIENT home. He is not a "love you to death" type of dog. You will have to earn that love through lots and lots of patience. He does great with other dogs and is getting more and more curious about all of the attention they get. He would probably be best in a home with another dog to help him finish coming out of his shell (a non-aggressive dog of course). He doesn't have a mean bone in his body but as with any fearful dog - he could bite - so therefore no young children for this beautiful baby. If you think you have the patience and love for this young guy, please go to our website and complete an adoption application you will find that at www.patriotsforpets.com He is neutered, current on his shots, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. A fenced in yard will be necessary for him since he is too scared to walk on a leash.
